About
Ricki Shankland brings 26 years of experience in public education as a Mathematics Teacher, Mathematics Department Head, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Principal Mentor. Her passion lies in equitable and inclusive practices that serve all educational partners. As a CLS educational consultant, Ricki collaborates with educators to elevate school culture, student experiences, and learning outcomes. She recognizes that each school and district possesses unique strengths and challenges that must be considered when designing and implementing systems, structures, and practices to support students, staff and families.
Ricki firmly believes that fostering positive relationships and trust, encouraging staff and student agency, implementing effective data systems and practices and integration of social-emotional learning opportunities are crucial for creating and sustaining a positive culture where students, staff and families feel supported, engaged, and empowered.
In her leisure time, Ricki enjoys running, hiking, and spending quality time with her husband, two adult children, extended family, and friends. Her favorite poem, "It takes courage to..." by Shelley L. Francis (From The Courage Way), reflects the courage it takes to be an educator: “be your whole self so you can do your best work so you can be the change you want to see so you can do what your worthy cause most needs you to do.”
