Youth Development

Student Engagement and Positive School Climate are more important than ever, especially in California, where both are specified as LCAP Priorities. According to the National Resource Center for Youth Development, “All young people need supports and opportunities to make a successful transition to adulthood.”

The focus of the positive youth development approach is to help youth acquire the knowledge and skills they need to become healthy and productive adults. PYD builds on young people’s strengths and recognizes their unique contributions.”

Collaborative Learning Solutions offers Positive Youth Development through the direct teaching of Social Emotional Learning skills in workshops. Some of the workshops for youth include:  SEL 101 for Students, Building a Climate of Kindness & Compassion on Your Campus, and 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. CLS also facilitates experiential PYD events, such as “SYNERGY Day” which creates opportunities for students to break down barriers and stereotypes, share their stories, listen to others’ life experiences, build positive relationships, and learn how to communicate more effectively.
