Daily SEL Lesson – Mindfulness 4/3

Welcome to the CLS Daily SEL lesson. Each day, Monday through Friday, we will provide a new social-emotional learning lesson designed to build emotional intelligence and resilience. There will be a lesson for elementary students and a lesson for secondary students that include media (videos, audios, or text) and simple step-by-step instructions.

We hope that the lessons are helpful to you and your children.

Weekly Focus: Mindfulness

Elementary Lesson – “Mind in a Jar – Planting Seeds of Mindfulness” Video

Instructions:

  • Why is having a calm mind important
  • What is one way you can calm your mind?
  • What kind of breaking helps to calm your mind?
  • Make a sign or poster to remind yourself of the importance of a calm mind.

Secondary Lesson – The Teenage Brain Explained

Media: Video –

Instructions:

  • Get into mindful body – hands free and relaxed, sitting proud, feet on the floor, gaze down to the ground or eyes closed
  • press play on the video and just listen.
  • When the video is complete, answer the following – how did you feel?f
